Nigerians arrested in Haiti for faking nationality

On August 18, two Nigerians were taken into custody by Haitian authorities on suspicion of possessing fraudulent Haitian national identification cards.


In Jacmel, Haiti, the suspects, Madukanze Kenneth, 31, and Henry Peter, 29, were placed under arrest.According to Haiti, Kenneth was discovered with an ID card that said "Augustin Jerry," and Peter's ID card said "Junior Jean Pierre."

The arrests were publicized on social media by the South East Police Department in Haiti, which emphasized their dedication to keeping up their "tireless" work of catching criminals and upholding the law.

  Resident doctors begin strike Monday A seven-day warning strike has been called by the Nigerian Association of Resident Doctors in response to the kidnapping of their colleague, Dr. Ganiyat Popoola, who was taken captive about eight months ago. The NARD President, Dr. Dele Abdullahi, told our correspondent on Sunday that the strike will start at 12 a.m. on Monday, August 26, 2024. The decision, according to Abdullahi, was taken at the Emergency National Executive Council meeting. "The strike is starting at midnight today," he declared.
