Kn!fe-wielding police officer arrested for ass@ulting Kaduna electric staff

An arrest has been made about a middle-aged police officer who was seen assaulting a staff member of Kaduna Electricity Distribution Company (KAEDCO) in a widely shared video.

The video showed the suspect, Inspector Aminu Yahaya Bidda, of the Tudun Wada Police Station in the Kaduna city, brandishing a knife and trying to st@b other KAEDCO employees.

By means of a petition to the police commissioner, Kaduna Electric formally reported the event to the state Police Command. The petition demanded that Inspector Bidda be detained, looked into, and prosecuted for attacking, attempting to kill, intimidating, and harassing KAEDCO employees.

In addition to pleading with the police commissioner to guarantee the safety of its employees so they can carry out their jobs without hindrance, KAEDCO asked that the case be forwarded to the State Criminal inquiry Department (CID) for a comprehensive inquiry.

The head of corporate communications at KAEDCO, Abdulazeez Abdullahi, released a statement in which the firm denounced the officer's actions, citing them as both illegal and potentially dangerous for the state's already precarious peace.

The officer's acts, Abdullahi emphasized, were blatantly against the law and police conduct norms. He also promised to petition the relevant authorities for necessary administrative actions as well as prosecution.

Inspector Bidda "viciously attacked" KAEDCO employees who were doing a normal inspection of his prepaid meter at his home on Rimaye Road, Hayin Danmani, according to the statement's additional details. An investigation showed that this year, the cop had only sold energy twice.

Witnesses stated that as the police became clearly irritated and repeatedly tried to stab the electricity worker, the situation deteriorated.
