Iluyomade saga ends as RCCG appoints Pitan as City of David Pastor

The Governing Council of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) has named Pastor Kayode Pitan, a former managing director of the Bank of Industry (BOI), senior pastor of the City of David Parish in Lagos, following months of controversy.

His appointment occurred two months after Idowu Iluyomade, the parish's previous senior pastor, was suspended due to accusations of corruption and unwillingness to be transferred.

Pastor Charles Kpandei, who had been leading City of David since Iluyomade's suspension, would be replaced by Pitan.

Pitan's appointment ended Iluyomade's tenure at the parish, despite the fact that it was not announced during the recently concluded church national convention. This information was obtained from reliable sources within the mission.

According to sources, Pitan was selected due to his background in the corporate sector and his ability to handle the church and the Trinity Tower Project simultaneously.

The source stated that Iluyomade remained silent about the development but expressed discomfort with the decision and uncertainty about his future in the RCCG.

With the appointment, Pastor Ben Akabueze would function as Assistant Pastor and Pitan as Pastor-in-charge of Region 20, with its headquarters located in the City of David.
