Christian businessman who boycotted Olympics for 'insulting Christianity' is arrested for attempted m*rder, r*pe, kidnapping

A restaurant owner in Ohio, who declined to play Olympic music at his establishments, citing the "Last Supper" drag controversy as a mockery of Christians, has been charged with attempted m*rder, r*pe, kidnapping, and other offenses.

43-year-old businessman Bobby George is charged with abusing a lady he shared a home with in a horrifying pattern.

According to the local newspaper, George, of Lakewood, Ohio, turned himself in to police after they obtained a warrant for his arrest on Friday, August 9, on accusations of attempted murder, rape, felony assault, four counts of kidnapping, and two counts of strangling.

He was freed after posting a $200,000 bond at Cleveland Municipal Court on Tuesday, August 13, 2023, but he is not allowed to speak with the victim he is suspected of assaulting several times between September 2023 and last month.

After the multiple attacks, the woman "fears for her life," according to a Cleveland police detective's statement in court documents that the local station cited.

George, who runs the Cleveland eateries TownHall and the Barley House, is accused of throwing the woman into a kitchen cabinet in the initial incident that was reported to the police, shattering the glass in the process.

Police claim that during the following month, he repeatedly banged her head against a table, choked her until she lost her breath, and pinned her to the ground. According to the court records, she allegedly experienced hazy vision and a ringing in her bloodied ears.

The Cleveland police Domestic Violence Unit noted in the arrest warrant that "the defendant then had victim treated by his business'(s) nurse-practitioner who diagnosed her with post-concussion syndrome," according to Cleveland.com.

According to the arrest warrant, George is accused of forcing the woman back inside their car when she attempted to run by pressing a revolver to her stomach in another alleged attack.

The r*pe charge stems from an additional incident in which, according to the warrant, he reportedly shoved her to the ground and held her down while r*ping her after she exited the shower.

Then, in June 2024, while they were living together, he made fun of her for pleading with God that she wouldn't die in one of the reported attacks.

Police claimed in the documents that the victim hid in a closet and prayed for her life, only to be forced out by the restauranteur, who bit her nose, spit at her, placed a towel down her mouth, and pushed her about the house while not allowing her to escape.

"You believe that God will assist you?" According to police records that Cleveland.com was able to get, he allegedly taunted the 25-year-old woman while he allegedly forced a towel down her mouth and choked her.

The Cleveland police investigator reported, "Defendant pulled her hair, strangled her, and threw her all over the house."

According to court filings, George allegedly told the victim on tape that he loves her and apologized after acknowledging some of the claims made against him.

His attorney, Kevin Spellacy, told Cleveland.com that the charges shouldn’t have ever been brought against his client and implied that he was targeted for his well-known name in the community. He denied the allegations against George.

The Cleveland law director said the case was thoroughly investigated and handled no differently than other cases.

“It’s imperative for the public to know that this case was treated according to standard protocols like any other case — regardless of the defendant’s name, title, or occupation. The investigation remains ongoing,” law director Mark Griffin said in a statement to WKYC.

George reportedly objected to the opening ceremony of the Paris Olympic Games featuring a reenactment of the "Last Supper" on TVs within his establishments earlier this month.

Signs at the restaurants said, "The portrayal of 'The Last Supper' was handled with an irresponsible level of irreverence, insulting the Christian faith," the station reported.
