Paris 2024: Favour Ofili makes history as she becomes first Nigerian since Mary Onyali to qualify for 200m final
Athlete Favour Ofili of Nigeria has qualified for the women's 200-meter final of the current Olympic Games in Paris.
After Julien Alfred won the first semi-final race on Monday with a time of 21.98 seconds, Ofili came in second with a season-best time of 22.05 seconds.
Ofili's achievement is remarkable because it makes her the first Nigerian to qualify for the Olympic 200-meter final since Mary Onyali.

Udodi Onwuzurike, meantime, will get another opportunity in the men's 200-meter event to become the fourth man from Nigeria to qualify for the semifinals.
He will compete in the Repechage Round, which is intended for athletes who did not earn automatic semifinal positions, after placing fifth in his opening round heat.
