Four men d!e in soak away pit in Imo State


On Saturday, August 10, four men sadly lost their lives in a soakaway pit at the Umuoyala Egbu community in Imo State's Owerri North Local Government Area.


An eyewitness claimed that workers had evacuated the soakaway the day before. The property owner, however, voiced concerns regarding obstructions in the water flow.


One of the dead workers, Eke, went into the soakaway pit to remove the obstruction in response to the owner's complaints, but he never came out.


In an effort to save one another, three more men entered the pit, but they also perished inside.

After some time, the motionless bodies were recovered and brought to Holy Rosary Hospital in Emekuku, where a physician pronounced them deceased.


Although ASP Henry Okoye, the Imo State Police Command's public relations officer, verified the event, he said he was still awaiting further information.
